Edward and Christina were the paternal grandparents of Joanna Sprague, who married Caleb Church, the grandfather of Rebecca Warren, wife of Isaac Hathaway. They are our direct ancestors. Edward was a highly successful Fuller who owned and operated a fulling mill in Upwey, England. Edward married Christiana Holland on St, George, Dorset, England. Edward died at the age of thirty-eight, probably as the result of an accident at the mill. He left a large footprint on history Through three of his sons, who immigrated to Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1629.

William was five years old when his father, Edward Sprague, died. Shortly after that, his mother married John Corbin, who became his stepfather. Like his father, his stepfather was a Fuller in Upwey, Dorsetshire, England. In 1629, William and his two older brothers, Richard and Ralph, and Ralph's wife and two young boys, traveled to Salem, Massachusetts, on The Higginson Fleet. The Sprague brothers were the founders of Charlestown, Massachusetts. William married Millicent Eames on May 26, 1635, in Charleston. In 1636, William and Millicent moved to Hingham where William left a large footprint on colonial history.
