William was five years old when his father, Edward Sprague, died. Shortly after that,
his mother married John Corbin, who became his stepfather. Like his father, his stepfather
was a Fuller in Upwey, Dorsetshire, England.
In 1629, William and his two older brothers, Richard and Ralph, and Ralph's wife and two
young boys, traveled to Salem, Massachusetts, on The Higginson Fleet.
The Sprague brothers were the founders of Charlestown, Massachusetts. William married Millicent Eames
on May 26, 1635, in Charleston. In 1636, William and Millicent moved to Hingham where
William left a large footprint on colonial history.
