Anthony Eames was born about 1595 in Fordington, Dorsetshire, England, the youngest of Thomas and Millicent Eames's five children.
Anthony married his wife, Margery, in 1615 (estimate). Many claim her maiden name was Pierce and that she was the daughter of Captain William Pierce and his wife, Jane. Although there is adequate proof from multiple records that her name was Margery, I can find no documents establishing her maiden name.
Millicent Eames, Anthony's daughter, married William Sprague in Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay Colony, in 1635. Anthony and his wife, Margery, are our direct ancestors.
Anthony played a unique and significant role in the history of Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was at the center of a trial that became known to historians as the impeachment of John Winthrop.
