Richard Warren came to Plymouth in 1620 on the Mayflower. His wife, Elizabeth, and daughters came three years later on the Anne. Richard Warren's daughter Elizabeth married Richard Church. Their son Caleb was the grandfather of Rebecca Warren, who married Isaac Hathaway. Caleb's brother Joseph was the great-great-grandfather of Phoebe Bailey, who married Isaac Hathaway Junior.

Many genealogies claim that Richard Warren, who came on the Mayflower, was the older brother of John Warren, who came on the Winthrop fleet. This is not true. The claim goes back to a book written in the 1800s which mistook these two for a different Richard and John living in England at the time. Richard's ancestry is unknown. John's ancestry is well documented.

John and Margaret Warren were the great grandparents of Rebecca Warren, who married Isaac Hathaway in Freetown in January of 1726, almost a hundred years after John and Margaret traveled with John Winthrop on his flagship, the Arabella from England to Massachusetts Bay Colony.

John was born in 1585 in Nayland, England, the oldest child of John the Middle and Elizabeth Scarlett. England was a monarchy, and Queen Elizabeth the First was on the throne. That year, Queen Elizabeth knighted Walter Raleigh.

Daniel and his son Joshua (below) both spelled their last name Warrin rather than Warren. Many of their descendents do the same, some claiming they are not related to the Warrens. This is not true. Historical records prove that Daniel's father, John Warren was born the son of John Warren of Nayland.

Daniel was born in Nayland, England, and was four years old in 1630 when his parents brought him to the new world on John Winthrop's fleet. Daniel married Mary Barron on December 10, 1650[6]. She was Elliz Barron's daughter, who came with her parents to Watertown from Ireland during the early 1630s.

Joshua Warrin was born July 4, 1668, in Watertown, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was the seventh child and the youngest son of Daniel and Mary Warrin and the grandson of our immigrant ancestors, John and Margaret Warren. In February of 1695, Joshua's father, Daniel, served on a town committee with Caleb Church. They would go on to work together on numerous assignments for the town, including as Selectmen. Sometime later that year, Joshua married Caleb Church's daughter, Rebecca. Between 1696 and 1718, Joshua and Rebecca had twelve children. Their fourth child, Rebecca Warrin, married Isaac Hathaway.
