James came to Taunton via Barbados. The passenger list for the Falcon, a ship that sailed from London to Barbados on April 14, 1635, lists James Burt, age thirteen. He arrived in Taunton, Plymouth Colony, by 1640, married Ana Lewis, and became a successful citizen of the town. Hannah Burt, the wife of John Hathaway Jr., was the oldest child of James and Ana Burt.
